The recent 55+ Housing Awards were held by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Orlando as part of the International Builders Show, and it was quite a night for The Springs of Mill Lakes. The development won eight awards, and Homeworks of Alabama was honored to receive one of these awards for “Best Universal Design Home for 55+ Construction.”

“We are honored to receive this recognition from the National Association of Home Builders. Universal Design is integral to the way we do business, and it is exciting to see that it is being embraced on a national level.” Allan Campfield

The Springs of Mill Lakes is a special development, not just for its beauty and innovative master plan, but for all of the special touches that the developer and builders are putting into every single detail. NAHB seemed to realize how special the community is, by handing out four Gold and four Silver Awards at the ceremony, which is the industry’s only national awards program honoring excellence in building design, marketing and lifestyles in housing for the mature adult.  This showcase, honoring quality housing, innovation and emerging trends that appeal to the 55 and above demographic, is part of the International Builders Show in Orlando, Florida.

“The Springs of Mill Lakes is a special development, and we are proud to be part of it. We are so thrilled to receive this distinguished award.” Lisa Campfield

Universal Design, or “the use of products and environments to be usable by all people, to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design,” is not exclusive to Homeworks of Alabama, but what is unique about the homes the company is building in The Springs of Mill Lakes is how they integrate the aspects of Universal Design with the beautiful aesthetics of the development.
Incorporating no-step entry, one-story living, wide doorways and non-slip surfaces is just the beginning. These functional conveniences are coupled with stately columns, an inviting front porch and spacious interior square footage to ensure that this development will be a landmark in the community for years to come.
